Have You Heard of ERISA?
It’s important to have familiarity with the Employment Retirement Security Act (ERISA) if you receive employee benefits through your employer.
Established in 1974, ERISA sets minimum standards for private industry to protect individuals in employee benefit plans, including pension and welfare benefit plans. Welfare benefit plans may include benefits in the event of sickness, accident, disability, death or unemployment, to name a few.
The employee benefit plan administrator must act in the best interests of plan participants and act with transparency and accountability, ensuring that participants have access to information about their plans, benefits and rights to sue for benefits and breaches of this agreement.
At McDonald & McDonald, we appeal denials of the following employer provided benefits: life insurance, long term disability insurance & short term disability insurance benefits, If you have any questions about ERISA, please contact McDonald and McDonald at 877.428.9806.
